Located in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, Green Textile Limited Unit 4 has set a global benchmark by achieving a LEED Platinum certification with a score of 104 out of 110—the highest ever in the apparel industry.
This joint venture between Epic Group and Envoy Legacy emphasizes renewable energy, meeting 60% of its electricity needs through a 733-kWh rooftop solar power plant. The factory also incorporates rainwater harvesting, efficient water usage reducing consumption by 51%, and advanced ventilation systems to maintain optimal indoor temperatures, ensuring a comfortable working environment for its 1,100 employees.
2. SM Sourcing
Situated in Gazipur, SM Sourcing has been recognized as the world’s top eco-friendly factory, achieving a LEED score of 106 out of 110.
The factory features a rainwater storage system beneath a garden on its premises and utilizes solar power, underscoring its commitment to sustainable practices. This achievement contributes to Bangladesh’s reputation, with nine out of the world’s top ten eco-friendly factories located in the country.
3. Plummy Fashions Limited
Plummy Fashions Limited, based in Narayanganj, is renowned as one of the greenest knitwear factories globally. It has received LEED Platinum certification for its sustainable infrastructure, which includes energy-efficient machinery, extensive use of natural lighting, and a comprehensive rainwater harvesting system. The factory’s design reduces energy consumption significantly, contributing to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
4. Tarasima Apparels Limited
Tarasima Apparels Limited has earned a place among the world’s top eco-friendly factories with its LEED Platinum certification. The factory incorporates sustainable practices such as energy-efficient lighting, water conservation measures, and waste reduction strategies. 5. Mithela Textile Industries Limited
